Contemporary Country Garden

A plant filled paradise garden with privacy, colour and texture.

A Piece of Paradise

This awkwardly shaped new build garden needed a simple design that offered privacy and lot’s of colour to be viewed from both inside and out.

The majority of lawn was removed and replaced with planting beds full of perennials, with repeating shrubs such as Hydrangea paniculata &  Fatsia japonica to provide structure. A new seating area was created to catch the last of the evening sun, made level with a sleeper edge to the beds. A gravel garden at one end of the garden became the focal point and provided colour and texture right into the winter. A large corten water bowl added another feature to this area, whilst also benefiting surrounding wildlife. The thing that really transformed this design was the line of pleached Carpinus betulus (Hornbeam) that formed a living privacy screen along the exposed boundary of the garden.
